Architectural Perspectives: The Etchings of Elisabeth Searcy and Joseph Pennell
End: Jul 14
Located in the Kraft Gallery, Special Exhibition 2
Curated by Marilyn Masler, Associate Registrar

Trained at the Art Students League in New York, Memphian Elisabeth Searcy (1877-1965) had her first professional showing at Goupil’s Gallery in New York in 1917. Included were etchings of architectural subjects (primarily from New York and Newport), a theme she continued to pursue throughout her career.  Joseph Pennell (1866-1926), an established artist and illustrator, was influential in her stylistic development. This exhibition will feature prints by both Searcy and her mentor Pennell.
